which Loos gauge?

(1/3) > >>

Eddy:
I need to check and adjust the standing rigging. Would like to know which gauge you are using and how you like the operation. Thanks.

selene:
I'm no expert: I use the regular Loos gauge. Came with the boat - cheaper model, seems to work fine for general adjustments.  It isn't a fine-tuning tool - I would not use it for tweaking a racing rig - but it seems to get you in the ballpark.

May be worth talking to a rigger, see what they use.  Certainly something I would like to learn more about.

Eddy:
What wire sizes does the gauge you have measure? Defender has the better gauge on sale now.

Blue Heron:
I just ordered the Regular model 90 B, which states it goes up to 9/32" wire. (the model is A smaller) Will let you know if this is the right one. I may have it in time to use it this weekend

Dolce_Vita:
I never had much luck with the cheaper style.  Too difficult to make repeatable measurements, and you can't just read it as you adjust.
I always borrowed one of the (much) more expensive PT-3s.  Wish they cost less:(.
