Engine and Drive Train / Pearson bronze shaft strut and D&R Marine
« on: October 23, 2021, 10:08:24 AM »
As the website administrator I received the following info from a Pearson owner regarding a parts resource.
Quote
Hello,

I have a Pearson 323 and my shaft strut was worn out.  After lots of research and some luck I found a guy who claims to have bought the original molds.  He is casting me a new replacement.  I wanted to share this information with any and all Pearson owners as it was very hard to find and not linked to common search engines.

here you go:

D&R Marine Inc.
PO Box 921
14 Water Street
Assonet, MA 02702

I understand the D&R Marine may be up for sale (retirement) --- it would be good to update this site with any information regarding new owners.

Hi Pearson folk. Just off phone with Rudy at D and R Marine he is retiring and looking for buyer.

Not surprising, he already has a handful of interested parties....putting the word out here as courtesy just in case someone here might have interest or know of person or company that might like the opportunity to own D and R Marine.

I am new to the Pearson family and in just 2 years I have found it remarkable how often D and R, and Rudy come up in discussion as a go-to resource.

I have spoken to Rudy a few times about my boat and my P30 salvage project. He is always busy and still patient, welcoming, and helpful.  So much knowledge and experience, good human being.  I hope he finds a great buyer and a way to share some of the legacy Pearson and O'Day knowledge and expertise that he has accumulated which his simply priceless.

Hi,
I am looking for the lines drawings of the Pearson 36 , to make a half model for our retiring commodore.  Any leads as to where Bill Shaws designs went to?  I can possibly use the plan and profile views but as a professional Modelmaker, I really want to use a lines drawing.
    Any help here on this?
  Thanks
   Tom

For Sale and Wanted / Model Sailboat - Pearson 34 Cutter
« on: May 24, 2021, 07:08:00 PM »
Classified ad posted on behalf of John in Delaware:

My family owned a lovely Pearson 34 Cutter - Hull number 50.  My dad, John C. Wik, was a very skilled boat model maker completing several hand crafted wooden models of notable boats.  These included the Emma C. Berry as well as a model of a whale boat from the C. W. Morgan.  Each was hand made and to exact scale.

In addition to these two notable boats, Dad made a model of his Pearson 34 Cutter “Strommen”.  (He had the boat built at the yard and would go up and see it weekly during construction.)

I do not know what has happened to this boat, but I have the Model and would like to see if I could find a good home for it.  It is truly a work of art.

Could you please pass this information and pictures along to members of your forum.  I can be contacted at jdwik@aol.com or by phone / text at 302-383-9923.

I am including some photos below.

Thank you,

John Wik

P33 / New Owner looking for P33-2 Owners Manual
« on: March 27, 2020, 10:42:27 AM »
Here is a Q&A from a new Pearson 33-2 owner:

Q:
Hi We just bought the 1986 33' Pearson Sailboat but the previous owner didn't have the manual/factory literature for it. Looking all over internet and unable to locate a copy of it. It needs some work and the manufacturer's literature would help us out tremendously. Please any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time-Ann

A:

Hi Ann,

Congratulations and welcome to the Pearson owners community!  From my experience as a Pearson owner and web-developer there are only a handful of the many Pearson models that have copies of owners manuals on the web - a result of generous owners sharing digital copies/scans. With that said I have been unable to find a digital copy for the P33.

The Pearson manuals tend to have similar content - so if you find a manual of a similar model/generation (such as the 31-2) you might be able to find some information useful.

Here are some references that may help:
1.  The Pearson 33-2 Brochure/Marketing: https://www.pearsonyachts.org/models/pearson-33-2.html
2.  Pearson 33 Systems and Operating Procedures: http://islandnet.com/~vanweb/fweb3/pdf/SOP-Part3-Pearson.pdf
3.  Pearson 31-2 owners manual: https://www.pearsonyachts.org/models/p31-2/docs/pearson-31-2-owners-manual.pdf

For item #2 there is a charter business "fairwinds" in Canada that mentions a P33 owners manual and has included parts of it in their operating procedures. Since they run a business they may be willing to make you a copy of the manual. (perhaps for a nominal fee?) If you do obtain a copy of the manual please consider sharing it with us and we will post it on PearsonYachts.org.
