Does anyone know a good source of Atomic Four parts in Canada?

We took the engine out yesterday. Lifted it by using the boom supported by two halyards. Used a fulcrum or lever effect to raise engine off the motor mounts then pulled out of engine compartment out onto cabin floor below hatch. So far so good. Now for rebuild. Scott

Just wondering if someone out there that has removed the A4 out of their boat that can give me some tips and pointers. First question is does the transmission have to come out with it, or is there room to get it out without taking the trans too. My thought is that it would eliminate the realigning of the shaft down the road.

Thanks for the reply, I will certainly follow your advise next time out and let you know how it goes. I am just getting used to sailing this boat, it is bigger than my last one which was an Ericson 29, that had a tiller not a wheel. Yes the seas were shortly spaced as the wind was against the outgoing tide. Scott #135

Boat Handling / Broad reach sailing in high wind and following seas
« on: July 05, 2016, 07:31:21 PM »
Hi, I am finally getting to sail  my 323 that I purchased last year. I am noticing that the boat rolls heavily from side to side when I am on a broad reach, mores than other boats I have owned. I am wondering how she actually likes the sails set in let's say 15 to 20 knots with a 3 to 6 foot following sea. She seems to get pushed around at the stern and roll heavily from side to side. I had one reef in the main and the jib reefed to about 110 when this was happening. Any pointers and or explanations of how I can get her sailing on this point of sail better then what I have been doing? Thanks Scott

For the last few years I have been working on restoring a Pearson Triton, but I am not getting any younger and decided I needed a boat to just get out there sailing. I will continue to work away at the Triton, but if someone comes along that wants to pick up the torch all the better. What is the approx cost of keeping your boat at a Marina in Fort Myers for a month? I was in that area a few years ago and did some boating in Pine Island sound and around Sanibel Island area. Nice area.

Thanks for the photos and replies. Now I have to decide if I want to install the traditional holding tank or go with the composting toilet. Can anyone comment on the composting toilet for an extended live aboard situation such as a winter in the caribbean?

Would a composting toilet be more suitable for long term cruising then a traditional holding tank?

Whereas I am in Nova Scotia and require the holding tank primarily for cruising in the Bras d"Or Lake, and considering the fact that pump out stations are scarce, I will set up the holding tank as you suggest with the ability to pump the tank out while off shore along the coast.
Thanks again Ed

Deck Mounted Hardware / New Owner Hull 135 - Windlass Location
« on: November 15, 2014, 05:26:25 PM »
Well, It's been finalized. I am now the new owner of hull 135 named Blue Spray, to be renamed " Emmi Maria"! I have been reading up lots about these wonderful boats here on the owners site, and see that it offers a wealth of info from very experienced owners. I hope that someday, I too will be able to contribute something worthy, meanwhile I hope that you will put up with my questions! In addition to the holding tank, I will be installing a windlass and am puzzled as to what would be the best spot to locate it. Any suggestions on type and location would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Selene,
thanks for the response. In an hour I am heading to the boat with a surveyor and if everything checks out as I suspect it will, I will be the new owner of hull #135! I have admired this model for some time now and am excited about finally being able to own one. I would certainly appreciate photos of the holding tank arrangement in your boat, but you have also given me food for thought on the composting head idea.
Thanks, Scott

Hi all,
I am in the process of purchasing a 323 and the first thing I will have to do to the boat is install a holding tank. I see in the line drawings that one is shown in the area of the V Birth, starboard side. Can anyone tell me where I can find information on rero fitting a holding tank in this area? Thanks, Scott
