Diesel fill problem.

<< < (2/2)

Sanctuary:
Just a couple of thoughts you might want to consider the MD11 burns about .5gph.  I lived aboard and sailed/motored a lot. Usually only filled the tank once a year if even that.

You could probably get a machine shop to cut down a brass pipe or plastic pipe to whatever size you needed for a fill adapter.  The plastic one I mentioned from ecstuning could be sanded or ground down to fit but should work as it is. Comes with it's own sealable jar too so you don't get diesel smell in the boat when you store the funnel.

An "inside caliper" would be a good tool to measure the deck fill you have.

Hope this helps.

Was not able to get inside dimensions from manufacturer or venders for less expensive ones like Sea Dog.

Replaced with a new old stock Perko Diesel Fill Chrome Part # 520-D00-CHR  from ebay.
I could see from the photos that the hose fitting was thin bronze tubing and not thick casting.
It has a much larger hole and uses a stranded ss wire instead of a chain.
Well over the size  limit for a high speed fill.
The flange is a bit smaller and the holes are different.
Filled the old holes and with careful placement the flange covers the old holes.

It will be a long time before I will be filling to verify that it works.

Attached is photo the pretty well shows the difference.
