Pearson Boats - Common Systems > Engine and Drive Train
Diesel fill problem.
jmcmonagle:
Purchased a 78 Pearson 323 with Volvo md11c about a month ago.
At most marinas can not get diesel pump filler into the fuel fill.
End up filling with funnel.
I suspect it's original fuel fill with 1.5" hose.
Will putting in a new fuel fill help or is it hopeless with a 1.5" hose?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
John
Frayed Knot:
Same problem. I just fill slowly. Never used a funnel I guess still have to go slow.
Bill1188:
Some marinas have adapter, like the one I get my fuel from. Adapters are out there.
Sanctuary:
Built back before there was low sulfur diesel and such. I use a filler neck/spout of a plastic gas can. ecstuning sells one for VW that works well, $8.00 No affiliation.
jmcmonagle:
In my case only able to get hi speed fill in a fraction of an inch.
From google a high speed filler is 1 3/16"
For it to fit hose part will have to be about 1/8" thick or less.
At a marine store they had a cheap plastic gas filler in the inside large enough.
The hose part as real thin.
Had problem measuring the inside diameter on my filler with caliper.
I'll make another attempt but but suspect the hose part is real thick.
I've seen no dimensions on the fillers I've seen on line.
I'm willing to change the fill buy an adapter that is known to work.
