accessing the back of the engine
« on: August 01, 2016, 01:59:33 PM »
Hi,
On our second trip out, we got a squealing sound and the water stopped pumping.  Thank goodness she is a SAIL boat.
Anyway, the impellers are fine, so we are thinking it is the belt.  We have an A4 with the v drive and the fresh water cooling.  How in the hell does one access the back of the engine?  I have gotten a mechanic's mirror, but would love to know if the back can actually be accessed.  In looking at the sail lockers, there does not seem to be an access point.  Ideas?
Thanks!

Alma

You will need to remove everything from the lockers and then unscrew the pegboard panels.

Once these 8 screws are out you can shimmy down into the locker and access the situation.

You could upgrade to the Indigo Electronics Atomic four FWC pump and bracket and then both raw and coolant pumps would reside right inside the galley locker.

Good luck.

Thanks!  We do have the fresh water pump thanks to the previous owner.
