Board Suggestion: Pearson 323 Owners Map

Why don't we set up a "Pearson 323 Owners Map"? using Google Maps?

Similar to this one used by MacGergor owners?

It would go a long way in helping us form local/regional get together's.

Perhaps there is a way to populate or link the map from our owners directory home port field.  I will look around a bit...

I also think its a good idea.  Just have people getting 323's to the south of me and it would be nice to have that info.   I don't think anyone would have a problem giving up numbers and locations.

I'm no computer expert, but i'm intrigued enough that i'm trying to figure out how to set up that shared map idea. maybe i can figure out how to do it... or maybe even improve on it. what would be an improvement?
-ability to sync the site to your onboard gps so people can follow along when one of us is on an adventure?
-have photos associated with boats (if user chooses)?
-other suggestions? is this too invasive?

Very nice feature. Any suggestions about what to do with boats that we see but are not on our registry? I saw hull 45 today in Morro Bay and know of a few others in my own marina.

we still need to
-figure out how to create a short name link, rather than using the whole url.
-make a link on the pearson site to the map.

also, i think there are ways to make the map more dynamic. such as...
-associating the position on the map with the boats gps?
-sharing favorite cruises, waypoints, ports/marinas/bars, warnings.
-weather info.
-links to other relevant items/places.
-other suggestions?
