Greetings - I just joined this group since I recently closed on a 1988 Pearson 36-5 in the mid Chesapeake Bay. I’m excited to learn from what y’all have done, learned, and encountered over your time aboard your Pearson.

New Member Introductions / I just bought a 1961 Triton 28' built by Aeromarine
« Last post by pendoreillepete on November 26, 2025, 03:24:51 PM »
I just bought a 1961 Triton 28' built by Aeromarine, in Alameda California, the San Francisco Bay Area. I rented the slip from the prior owner, everything was going great until I tried to get Liability insurance for the Marina, and all of the recommended unsures from sailboat forums Progressive, Geico, Haggarty, etc over a dozen companies and insurance brokers, they all said they will not insure a boat over 40 years old, that some people were insured in the past and they are grandfathered in.

So, I am still looking for insurance, but my only other option will be to find a trailer and move the boat out of California.  I have a small farm in Idaho, and plenty of room, but I am 830 miles from Alameda.

Is anyone else currently having this issue with insurance in California? Anyone have a trailer to sell or rent?

I am still really excited about this boat, and I will find a work around, but I would appreciate any help the members of this forum could provide.

Thanks,

Stephen

My 323 is a 1977. I believe the freshwater pressure pump is original. I can’t post a picture of it but it’s a diaphragm pump. I just wanna know if they make a rebuild kit for the pump.
