P303 / 1983 303 traveler

Hey, I'm looking at a couple of 303s, and I like the 1983 with the traveler in the cockpit.
2 questions...
Is there some reason to stay away from that?
and
Has anyone installed a line-control traveler (which I assume will make it a lot easier to adjust)?
What brand is the track (I assume Shaeffer, but not sure).
