Title: 303 cutless bearing replace
Post by: JohnnyD on December 30, 2021, 10:00:27 AM
Has anyone with a 303 or similar design shaft log replaced the cutless bearing. Any problems to look for, does the shaft have to be pulled?

If you still need info contact me thanks! Capt. Rob
The bearing should be part name "BAIL" and yes remove the shaft first and the cutlass bearing with a hose. Get a pipe 3/8 inch. larger than the "Shaft" but not more than the dia of outside the bearing. use this pipe to knock out the old bearing from the inside if needed. The bearing has two set-screws 1 on each side L & R of the opening.
Install your new bearing and insert the shaft with the prop. reconnect inside cutless and boot.  Note:  I install a set-caller before connecting back to the coupler. to prevent the shaft and prop from leaving or pulling out all the way!
Hope this helps!
Capt. Rob
Update: saw my box and the part number is "BAIL" and not BEAR..
