« on: August 29, 2019, 08:24:37 AM »
Attached is a pic on my instrument panel on my P323.
If you have the same panel could you take a pic of the wiring, particularly the wires going to the Voltmeter gauge.
Thanks  BobG

Electrical Systems & Electronics / Raymarine EV-100 Autopilot
« on: February 17, 2019, 11:59:25 AM »
Has anyone installed the Raymarine EV-100 in a P323.
My question is,  where is a good place to mount the compass unit and the main controller unit.

Thanks

Engine and Drive Train / Tachometer Sender (MD11C)
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:26:06 AM »
Has anyone replace the Tachometer sender on a Volvo MD-IIC?
The sender is a funky sort of hardware, not sure how to attack it
I have diagnosed that it is not the Tach gauge.
It would be nice to have a working Tach, not mission critical.

Thanks

Plumbing and Galley Systems / Deck fill caps for the tanks
« on: October 24, 2016, 06:41:18 PM »
Just a quick heads up.
The fresh water and holding tank deck caps on my boat #174 were made by Wilcox & Crittenden. Do not drop one overboard!
The thread for these caps is proprietary, and to the best of my knowledge are unavailable. I got lucky, found one at a boat yard in a used parts pile.
Otherwise I was looking at a new hose, deck fitting and about 15 hours of labor.

Electrical Systems & Electronics / Autohelm 3000
« on: August 22, 2016, 08:54:57 AM »
I have an old Autohelm 3000 that sort of forgets where it's going.
Raymarine well not repair this unit
I have heard that this is a common problem with the control unit.
Does anyone know where this can be repaired?
I like the thing, and also don't want the trouble of installing a new unit.

Thanks

Mast and Spar Issues / My new mast step
« on: June 27, 2015, 09:16:21 AM »
I am sharing experiences on trying to acquire a new mast step for my P323 so as to save you time when the time comes for your replacement.

FORGET Rigrite. I contacted them and sent them the information detailed on their website on May 20th, and after three phone calls; NOTHING. From what I hear from people in the trade, they do not understand how they stay in business and really only sell parts. If you want old parts, give them a try, for custom stuff forget it
Every lead from this website came to a dead end, sad to say

It took me four weeks to find the guy who makes P323 and other mast steps and five days to make it.
Dick Conti was the MetalMast shop supervisor who oversaw the Pearson account; (BTW: he was not responsible for the carbon steel mast steps) He is also the guy who makes the custom mast steps for RigRite.
He has a vast selection of mast sections in his shop. Send him a tracing of your mast section on a nice thin piece of wood, and five days later your in business.
Here is pic of the step and a pdf of his business card
My launch date is July 2nd, 33rd launch streak

Good luck

Mast and Spar Issues / Mast Step
« on: May 21, 2015, 08:23:41 AM »
I am in the process of removing my Rusty (Pelican) mast step, 36 years in service, it's time.
Thanks for all of the previous posts regarding mast step fab and removal, good stuff.
I am flummoxed as to how to remove the compression rod. The nut at the mast collar has been removed; spun the rod around such that the rod is very loose, but that is it.
Any advise would be very welcome.

Cheers

P323 / Pearson 323 in BVI
« on: April 21, 2015, 10:15:19 AM »
Just a FYI:

I spotted a P323 anchored in Roadtown Tortolla BVI last week.
There was no name on the transom and like an idiot I did not get the hull #. What was I thinking?
The boat is a bit of a derelict, the owner was a Welshman who lived aboard

Deck Mounted Hardware / Fender Problem
« on: May 16, 2014, 08:29:05 AM »
I have a mooring and a dock slip. The boat spends most of the time at the dock.  The P-323 toe rail is such that my fender lines while at the dock chafe into my precious teak toe rail.
The area is 360 degrees protected, most of the waves are from boat traffic.
I have tried chafe tape, tubing and carpet strips to no avail.  I do not want to install SS rub strakes.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cruising / NOAA Charts
« on: November 06, 2013, 09:50:58 AM »
The US Government announced awhile back that it would no longer print navigational charts after April as a cost-saving measure, but don’t run to your favorite Print On Demand retailer just yet, because you can now download pretty much every navigational chart in the NOAA catalog for free – at least for 3 months.

Plumbing and Galley Systems / Wilcox and Crittenden deck fill caps
« on: July 01, 2013, 07:56:41 AM »
Just a FYI.
The above mentioned deck fill caps were standard issue on the P323.
Please be advised the W & C used a propriety thread design. The "Crittenden thread"
If you lose a cap, off the shelf caps will not work.
I lost mine overboard due to a gust of wind, and had to go to a salvage yard.
W & C were no help.
