Engine and Drive Train / Tach sender for Volvo MD11
« on: August 24, 2019, 10:03:53 AM »
Does anyone know where I could find a Tach sender for Volvo MD11? Way obsolete.
Salvage etc....

Thanks.

Rusty Pelican's 37th consecutive season

A P232 owner at my club cranked down his backstay such, he could not open his starboard cockpit locker. Kind scared me. Ater we let off the pressure, all was fine.
The stern must have deformed a bit.
I use the Loos tool to tune the mast, works fine. I think I am around 10% or so.
The P323, after 37 continuous seasons cruising the NE coast has taught, me many things.
#1 give her what she wants.
Yes the P323 can be bent and it is good, not designed for a rake.

OOPS,
You just lost the set screw for your strut that holds the cutless bearing in place.
There are 2; one on each side.
Depends on your strut if you can skate on zero or 1 set screw.

Not me.
As a rule Center Boards are a maintenance headache.
Most people don't use the center board anyway, so why buy one?

Is your rudder a spade or a skeg hung rudder?
If spade, the rule of thumb is no movement of the rudder at all.
With a skeg hung you can live with 1/4 paly

Has anyone installed the Raymarine EV-100 in a P323.
My question is,  where is a good place to mount the compass unit and the main controller unit.

Thanks

Bill,
Do you have the Tach sender unit that is mounted on the starboard side of the MD11C?
It's near the oil dipstick.
I could use one, the sender is out of production

Thanks

Deck Mounted Hardware / Re: Mid-Ship Cleats

I have the Schaefer genoa track cleats.
Had them 20 years or so, worth every penny.
Genoa mount is the only way to go.

Marine Tex will work fine.

It's just a fairing that covers the gudgeon. Not structural

The patch you are referring to is a sacrificial faring. No worries

Thanks for the chart table lid retainer, I ordered the item.
The void to the starboard side is accessible via the opening hatch. There is a hull stringer (I think) that limits the usable space.
I stack booze horizontally in there for my friends that drink the hard stuff.

Here are the pics of the locker under the nav station

I cut a Wine/Booze locker in the base of the nav table long time ago. I love it.
Very easy to do, you need to fashion a floor board and I bought a louver swing door.
Opened lots of space. I am thinking of mounting my NEW Raymarine EV-100 compass in there as well.
I will post a pic soon.

That's a risk I would never take.
