P31 / Re: Water logged sole over the bilge.

I took my floor out two years ago. Pain, chipping out all the bungs and removing screws. Heat gunned off old finish, light sanding, five coats satin polyurethane. I fastened the floor by flush sinking some inserts into fiberglass and then flush fastening some shouldered brass washers in the wood. Then took some flat head brass screws to fasten floor. Looks great, brass and nautical. And I can take up floor any time by removing screws instead of hammering out bungs again.

Rustoleum makes a product, Never Wet, which is more or less 303 Protectant at a fraction of the price. Non silicone, compatible with Sunbrella. Got mine at Home Depot.

Have a Peters and Russell hand pump in my galley. Any idea where to get parts?

Interior Structures / Re: Table Post

Another 323 in my Marina never had the post. I took mine out. Local welding shop cut me a three foot or so post that I mount the table on top of when needed. When the table and post are stowed, it's like you have double the interior. Wish I had done it years ago.

Pulled my tank in fall of 2015. Easy to remove out of port side. Pumped about two gallons of a substance that is best described as thick and looking like diarrhea. Pressure washed inside of tank. Also cleaned copper pick up tube that was virtually closed with deposits. Tank is aluminum and like new. Peace of mind knowing tank is without issues now.

I just yanked the MD 11c out of my boat. If you need parts. Always in fresh water.

My MD 11c was yanked out last week with a Beta 25 waiting to go in. Yard got the Volvo out easily. Said Beta half the weight but wider, thus may have to cut the column between the doors out to shoehorn it in. If you want an update on progress and impediments, I can post for your benefit.

Welcome to the club. I bought a Catalina 34 back in '13, sailed it for a summer, and sold it as it didn't stir the soul like the 323 I had smartly hung on to. Wealth of info in this site. Left tri-state area to move to west Michigan. No salt. Tricky ailing.

Unfortunately, you have to take the binnacle apart down to the levers. Good thing is, you can take that opportunity to clean and lube everything, and inspect the cables for the steering. How the cable attaches, routes, and adjusts is readily apparent.

I replaced cable to my MD11c. Off the shelf little longer than original. You can adjust to fit.

I like the idea of general discussion, but as it applies to boats. I home brew, it adds to my sailing experience. Politics, verboten. Get enough of the for/against Trump crap on FB.

Engine and Drive Train / Sound deadening
« on: February 09, 2017, 02:22:35 PM »
Repowering my boat. Yard is going to give me some time between yanking MD 11c and installing new lump to dress up engine compartment. Want to get rid of old sound deadening as it is crumbling. Yard suggests Soundown products, but kinda pricey. Any suggestions?

Ok, MD 11C coming out this week, to have a new Beta 25 installed. I will be parting out the Volvo. Barrels are weeping. Suspect cracks in water jacket. Everything else fine. Transmission was rebuilt a couple of years ago with all ne Volvo parts. Shifts like butter. Walter V Drive like new. Everything else on motor was rebuilt ten years ago by previous owner. Contact me if you want motor or parts of it. Located west Michigan.

If you could find that, I'd be forever grateful. The mechanic in my marina has been vetting sites and other mechanics for pointers. I also know he has talked to Beta. You might save him some headache.
