I am not near the boat just now, and I don't have anything that shows the whole setup.  Take a look at the picture of Zufrieden on the Parts page of this web site.  From that you can see the headsail and the sheet running aft.  The picture below, taken on the same day, shows the winch and cleat.  You just can't see the turning block, but you can see the sheet running back toward the block, and returning to the winch, finally cleated.  The block is actually a foot block.  I probably should not be calling it a turning block.

Hope this helps.  I will be at the boat over the next couple of weeks.  I'll snap another picture and post it as soon as I get back home.

Interesting.  Zufrieden has a 180 degree turning block well aft of the cleat.  I have always (rightly or wrongly), run the jib sheet from the jib car directly to the turning block, then back forward to the winch, then aft to the cleat.  Seems to work nicely.  I never thought of running the sheet though both jib cars.  Always just adjusted the aft most, "working", car to control the set of the headsail.  For me, that frees up the forward car for use in my preventer setup.

Still using the originals.  Probably due to use in milder, shorter sailing seasons.

Take out the one screw in the black plastic end cap and remove it. The car can then be removed off the end of the track.

The car can be simply and economically repaired by drilling out the rivet and replacing the sheave. A stainless screw and a nylock nut replace the rivet. Be sure to retain and reuse the bronze bushing from the old sheave.

So the sheaves on both of my genoa jib car blocks disintegrated this weekend during some heavy sailing.  Is it possible to get the jib cars off by just taking off a few screws of the jib track instead of taking off the whole track?  Has anyone done this?

We just got out our symmetrical spinnaker and will be learning how to use it soon. There are no blocks that I can see to run the sheets through to the secondary winches. So we recently completed a complete refit of our fresh water system.  In the process, we decided to take out the sink in the head, because we never really used it, we always just walk to the galley and wash our hands.  So what to do with this space now.  We thought about cutting off the top of the fiberglassed sink recess and then placing a hinged wood top and using the space below for something like towel storage. 

Has anyone else removed that sink and made something more useful with the extra space?  Just looking for ideas and recs.

This girl never had any trouble climbing up the companionway steps.

Sadly she is gone now. She also would jump into the inflatable and make her way back up the boarding ladder with a spotter.

Sailing this year without a dog has some freedoms yet I'd rather have Winnie with us again.

Not only does the 323's bridge deck make down flooding less of a danger, the complex shape molded into the cockpit makes the boat very strong amidships.

That is crazy she could make it up and down the companionway ladder without any problems, what agility!!  We have a 65lb English Bulldog who has no agility.  He will never scale the ladder

Nothing really to report except that this past week, I had to change the impeller on my 323 that was repowered with a Betamarine 25 V-drive.  I am very broad shouldered, have spent most of my life lifting weights daily.  OMG THAT SPACE IS TIGHT!!  WHAT A PAIN!!  Think next time I will have to hire it out to our local repair guy who is about half my size.  >:( :( :-\

For what its worth, draining the icebox directly into the bilge, although commonly done, is probably not such a great idea. All of the inevitable food spills and leaks in the icebox will result in an organic "sludge" building up in the bilge, causing anything from a mild "boat funk" smell to a full-on open sewer experience. 

The early OEM configuration  had the icebox draining into the shower sump tank, which gets pumped overboard later by its own purge pump.  I believe later designs went to pumping the icebox directly overboard.

Ed, I agree completely.  We only use our boat for day sailing and so the icebox currently only holds drinks for us.  If I were holding food in there, I would definitely rearrange the drain to another location.

I removed the icebox pump out, and put in a soap dispenser.
Wife loves it

I was thinking about doing that, there is plenty room under for easy access to change out bottles

That was my first thought as well, a water pump for something.  I also have something similar on my 31-2 for emptying the cooler box. I like your metal one though (it appears to be anyway), as mine is cheap white plastic and I'd really like to replace it (should anyone have a lead, I'd appreciate it :) ).

Thanks for all the replies.  My drain for ice box is into the bilge now, something the PO did.  So it makes sense now as to why there was nothing connected to this anymore.
