Engine and Drive Train / MD11c/Beta
« on: December 13, 2016, 05:20:28 PM »
Looks like I have decided to bin the old MD11c in favor of a new Beta diesel. I understand that the Walter v-drive may not mate up. Has anyone, or do you know of anyone who has fashioned an adapter so the Walter unit can be used. Or am I going to have to go with the Hirsch unit?

In the photo, the turning block used is where I usually run my asymmetrical sheet. Using the set up depicted here, how do you rig your spinaker sheet?

Looking for jugs and heads for an MD 11c. Anyone got anything laying around? Know where I can find some?

Some marinas have adapter, like the one I get my fuel from. Adapters are out there.

Had mine rebuilt a few years back by an outfit in Port Clinton, Ohio. It's like butter now. No leaks, no binding, all good. I can get you their contact info when I go to boat this weekend.

Looks like you need to purchase the whole unit. I just need a couple of the closing ports and the gaskets.

What is the brand of the opening ports , the four found in the head and V birth. Black, about 12 inches wide, black knobs that turn to lock. I need two lenses and would like to replace gaskets.

I see Beta engines are pretty much a replacement as they will configure mounts to those of the engine you are replacing. Also, the Walter V-Drive can be used. And horsepower for horsepower, a smaller package. May be a win-win.

I bet this topic has been covered ad nauseum, but want to turn the MD 11c into an artificial reef and Repower. What is the easiest way to go? Beta engines have my interest. Is there one that is a direct replacement, mounting on existing mounts and mating up to the Walter v drive. Money is not an obstacle, it's why I work in my retirement. Just don't want to cobble up the boat.

Standard ice box. Adler Barbour system. Vacuumed out system. Put in enough coolant to register five pounds on the gauge. In 90 degree Michigan I have slushy beer. I suggest getting a good hvac guy to do the work. I do all the refrigeration in the marina as a favor. I work for slushy beer. Last week did one where ice box is registering minus four in the evaporator. All in the set up.

Floor was not glued. Once the overwhelming number of bungs were chipped out, the screws had to be removed. Use your best Phillips screwdriver as to not round out the heads. Floor came out easy. 37 years of dirt took awhile to clean up. Heat gun off the old finish. Light palm sanding so as to not go through the veneer. 8 coats semi gloss polyurethane. All in as of last weekend. Looks like a million bucks. I also removed the table pole as it is not structural. Furniture maker friend made me a new table, complete with fiddles. Being able to stow the table when not in use, and not having the pole, makes the cabin feel twice its size.
