Title: Pearson 40 Swing keel
Post by: Clinton60 on May 20, 2019, 10:36:40 AM
I am looking at a 1980 Pearson 40.  The vessel was quick hauled and the swing keel rocks on the pivot pin as if the pin, sleeve or keel are worn.  Has any dropped a keel and made the appropriate repairs?  Thanks

Not me.
As a rule Center Boards are a maintenance headache.
Most people don't use the center board anyway, so why buy one?

Of course a centerboard does add moving parts and another point of maintenance on an aging boat.  Sorry I can't make any recommendations for repair, but I can see Bill Shaw's intentions to reduce drag downwind and improve lift upwind -- those are always good things!   8)
