Engine and Drive Train / Hour Meter Wiring
« on: August 21, 2014, 08:59:54 AM »
Is there a way to wire the hour meter so that it only runs when the engine is actually running? My meter starts counting as soon as I turn on the ignition. I often leave the key on so I can start the engine without having to go below and turn the key on.

Standing & Running Rigging and Fitting/Tuning / Running halyards aft
« on: March 14, 2014, 10:06:02 PM »
I'm thinking about installing a UK Lazy Cradle (lazy jack system) and running at least the main halyard aft. Does anybody have any experience with the Lazy Cradle and thoughts on how best to position the hardware, like the blocks and winch for the main halyard, to make it all work? As always, pictures are worth a thousand words!  :)

Any one have suggestions on installing fans in the V berth and saloon? I'm thinking about using Hella Turbo fans. Looking for any help on wiring and placement. If you have photos of your installation, all the better!

Engine and Drive Train / Checkin Oil on MD11-C
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:26:18 PM »
Has anybody modified their dipstick to make it easier to check the oil on your Volvo MD11-C? I can barely reach the dipstick from down in the starboard locker and with the plumbing from the water heater I can't get it out without fear of dropping it in the bilge! How do you experienced guys do it? I'm new to the boat so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Interior Structures / V-Berth Bedding
« on: September 09, 2013, 10:30:16 PM »
Hi all, I'm the proud new owner of hull #298 and I have a question as to what you use for sheets, blankets and so on for sleeping in the V-berth. What I mean is, have any of you had custom fit bedding made or made something yourself that fits the V shape better than a regular bed sheet? How about a custom mattress or pad to put over the cushions? Just looking for ideas and suggestions to make sleeping on the boat even more comfy!  ;)
