Binnacle Sissy Bar

(1/2) > >>

T_schlueter:
My binnacle has what I would call a sissy bar or handhold attached to it. The bar is attached to the cockpit floor with plastic feet that are crumbling.  Any suggestions where I may find replacements? I've attached a picture.

Rusty Pelican:
Edson Marine is the manufacturer.

I have the same feet on my pedestal guard, which also crumbled. I attributed this to the inexplicable use of aluminum bolts to hold them down.  The aluminum corroded and swelled up into a crumbly white mass which cracked the feet and caused leaks in the sole.

I was able to locate a used pair at a marine surplus store (Bacon's in Annapolis) and replaced them using stainless bolts.  Solid and no more leaks.

Edson replaced these plastic feet with stainless ones, which is a better (but more expensive) solution.  Defender carries them:

Ouch, $83/pair. I may try gluing them back together before I bite the bullet on those. Thanks for the info. Knowing the proper name is quite helpful.

Last Resort:
if you happen to know anyone with one, a 3D printer would do the trick I imagine :)
