Replacing a water heater
(1/1)
757guy:
Good day, folks. We own an '87 P 28-2 and as far as we know the water heater is original. The outside is starting to rust significantly and it's installed in such a way that the make/model are buried, tho it's cylindrical (might narrow the list?). Here's the hook: The thing measures 16" tall with a diameter of an honest 14". The lazarette is an honest 13 3/4" so how'd the get the thing in there (just curious) and how do we get it out? Will gratefully accept advise on this AND a decent replacement in the 5 gallon range. The unit itself seems to work okay but looks gnarly--not so acceptable on a charter boat.

Hi
I just replaced the water heater on my 1982 323. The cylinder shape water heater that I took out was a 6 gallon Raritan , model 170611, with heat exchanger, The measurements were very close to yours. Check out their website for exact specifications. It was NOT cheap but it worked in the space allocated without a lot of extra modifications
