Congratulations. All is well in 323 Land.

Last Resort:
I wrapped my dinghy line again last night while in reverse...stupid...but for the second time, I just made sure the prop was clear of more line, pulled the engine stop, put the tranny in forward and hit the start button over and over while my buddy pulled on the line and it all came undone and out.  It's a neat trick and works, twice for me now, and most likely the next time, because there will be :)

I can beat that. I just fired mine up while still on the hard and managed to wrap up a dangling tarp line! Really!

Get the Polyline with the yacht braid , it floats, stretchy and a nice hand. Bonus, it's a nice saftey line for kids swimming in a current
