Ports

(1/1)

Now or Never!:
Well, it's finally happened!  One of the ports on our P323 has developed a leak.  I guess it's time to rebed.  What can I expect when I remove the screws from the interior trim?  Do the screws go through the trim into the exterior trim?  Is there some kind of gasket between the interior and exterior?  I want to be prepared to fix the problem before I take things apart.

I have not yet had to do this on my boat, but there is an article on this very site - http://pearson323.com/projects/portlights.pdf - which briefly walks through repairing the larger portlights.

Although this link describes replacing old portlights with new ones,  you may find it useful:

I am also a big fan of this site - so much useful information - and as you will see, he recommends butyl tape, which I used when I was reversing one of my hatches, no leaks so far....very useful stuff for bedding down most things.

Let us know how it goes!
