Hello from Maine

(1/1)

captn_rob:
My name is Rob.I am a former lobster fisherman from Maine (1982 - 1999) but now I live in an RV, work from home as a software engineer, and travel the country with my wife and youngest son. This is our third summer in Maine since starting the RV life but we winter between Texas and Florida.

Last week we bought a 1980 P-26. She is in beautiful condition (for a 38 year old boat) but has been on the hard for 3 years so needs a little TLC - mostly cosmetic. I have never sailed but having grown up on the water in a fishing family and spent most of my early career as a lobsterman I have no doubt I will learn fast. I've completed a few online courses and I have a number of friends who are experienced sailors who have offered to "show me the ropes" (literally! LOL).

Looking forward to cruising Casco Bay and the Maine coast this summer! Maybe in a few years (work and time allowing) I would love to cruise from Maine to Florida down the ICW so we can spend the winter cruising the Caribbean

Dog Star:
Hey Rob,

Let me know if you make it up to the Blue Hill Bay- Eggemoggin Reach area!

Hi Rob,
Welcome. How has the Maine sailing been?
I'm keeping my P28 just around the bay from you in Brunswick.

Have fun and watch out for those lobster trap bouys  ;D

Hi Rob,

I have owned 2 323's but have raced on the P-26 several times as crew. It's a sturdy pocket cruiser. If you are new to sailing, put some experience in your pocket before venturing out into the Atlantic.

All the best,

Greg
