Boom Vang

Just got a killer deal on a Boom Vang.  Want to know what type of attachment points should I get?  Like the boom should I just get a one bolt boom bail and what size?  Also the mast, should I get something that will move to both sides or a mast hound.  It is a soft Vang.  Don't want to spend a lot but would like something descent, is that possible?   I will be installing this myself.  Thank You for the input.   Dick

I would also like to ask how long of a boom vang is ideal or how far down the boom from the mast should the top of the vang be, Thanks

The bottom of the Vang should be as low as possible on the mast and the Vang should be 30 to not more than 45 degrees of an angle.  I am not an expert, but that is what I understand where it should be.  Make a mark at the attachment point on the mast and use a degree wheel to to figure the angle and mark the boom.  Measure between the two marks and that should be the length.  NOTE (the angle should be made from the boom)
