rocna 33 lb anchor
(1/1)
CoyoteII:
I have a pearson 323 1978 version and was wondering if anyone has gone to one of the rocna anchors and weather you had to change the bow roller configuration. I do not have a bow sprit
rbrtfeld:
I put a 35 Mantus anchor on my 79 323. Works great.
Rusty Pelican:
I have my trusty CQR 35 on bow roller, with 60ft of 5/16 chain.
Years ago while anchored in Sandy Bay (misnomer, the holding ground is glacier till) in Rockport MA which has a northeastern exposure, a surprise 1 day NorEaster rolled in.

At the time I had 30ft of 3/8 chain and 300ft of 5/8 nylon triple strand. I laid out all 300ft, when the boat pulled on the line, water would shoot horizontally straight out, and the line assumed a diameter of a pencil. Of course I had Danforth 22 HiTinsle ready to go.
After it blew out I dove on the anchor, all 30ft of chain was buried as was a good chunk of line.
My guess was the the CQR was buried close to 3-5ft. It took a while to break out.
Moral of the story, carry lots of good anchors, chain and rode.
Good luck with you new anchor it look good.
