Was winterizing the boat today, and out of curiosity, removed the table and pole. Transforms the boat. Makes it seem twice as big inside. Walked on cabin top, and felt no difference under my 250 lbs. needless to say, the pole is gone. Will put a flange on floor and table with short pipe to use as table or bunk support when needed. Just think, someone sleeping in the main cabin without the pipe intruding. Just need to figure out where to store the table when not in use.

Good for you. The pole has no impact on supporting the coach roof unless it is tied into the turn of the bilge and the cabin top above the headliner.

I think you may like it that way. At any rate it would be easy to return to the original design...

I believe the table post is also a compression post for the cabin trunk.

Another 323 in my Marina never had the post. I took mine out. Local welding shop cut me a three foot or so post that I mount the table on top of when needed. When the table and post are stowed, it's like you have double the interior. Wish I had done it years ago.
