Upholstery fabric for interior cushions
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:29:06 AM »
I had posted (somewhere) a few months ago, looking for the # of yards of fabric required to re-upholster all of the interior cushions.  I gave all of my cushions to my guy and he is telling me about 24 yards.  I'll let you know how accurate in a few weeks.

I'm trying to decide on a fabric.  Many say that Sunbrella is over-priced and over-rated.  I've got samples of duck canvas, nylon, acrylic and polyester.  Kind of leaning towards polyester since I hear that it resists water and fading well.  Any other experiences??

Anyone needing fabrics for the interior cushions should try this site. They were awesome. I found a Brisa leather product that is normally $80 per yard for $16 per yard. the finished cushions are very nice. They have other fabrics as well for pennies on the dollar of you would normally pay. Good luck.

Sunbrella is great for outdoor use - yes, it is expensive, but it doesn't rot in the sunshine like many fabrics would, and is strong and long-lasting.

Personally I would not use it for interior cushions.  It would be an unnecessarily expensive choice for interior cushions (not a lot of UV down below), and I personally find it rough/coarse compared to other choices.

Thanks for the offer to let us know how many yards are required - it's one of those numbers which it would be great to have tucked away for future use.

I was looking thru the 323 web site and noticed a reply I sent a while back regarding fabric replacement.  At newToto.com there a fabric called Leguno that sells for over 80 per yard is available for 21 per yard.  A great deal and they have over a hundred yards.  I found Brisa leather on this site for my 323 and it was awesome. Good luck.

Thought I would weigh in since I just did Lucky Dogs cushions. My wife chose Sunbrella. 25 yards from Sail Rite. Best price hands down. After she got them back from the upholsterer I treated them with 303 fabric guard. Crazy expensive stuff so buy a gallon and crank up the low pressure bug sprayer. I expect these cushions to outlast me. We'll see!   :)

And with 303 Fabric Guard in mind, anyone find a reasonable replacement?
