fresh water holding tanks
(1/1)

Hello every one . A little about my self. My first boat was a 1980 Catalina 22. Had that for 5 years. Pretty much refitted the whole boat and learned how to sail. Now i have a new to me 1985 Pearson 34 foot. My question. I have two fresh water holding tanks...one is hooked up that would be the one up in the v-berth. The other starboard aft is not . The tank is sealed but the holes are already in place . One opening is were the water would enter, the other would be the feed for the galley sink. Do i just use plumbers tape and silicone. Thank you in advance . First time on this forum Mark Rocco

It is just plumbers tape on the threads on mine and it has worked well.

Hi,
I use pipe thread sealant, it comes in liquid form. Teflon tape is not really a sealant, it lubricates the threads and makes it easy to over tighten the fitting. Finger tight and perhaps a turn or less, use your judgement, or watch some of the videos on youtube for more pointers.
