Mast and Spar Issues / New Mast Step
« on: August 11, 2022, 01:22:11 AM »

Update on New Mast Step 2022. Mike from San Diego reached out to me and I was able to have a Fabricator in San Pedro CA. Make a beautiful new aluminum mast step. It turned out nicer than the one I gave him to copy. The fabricator charged 1,000  to make it as he put alot work into making jigs to get the exact copy. If anyone needs one he can make them for you. He has the patterns in his shop.

Ports & Hatches / Newfound Metal Port-lights for Rockstar
« on: February 12, 2018, 08:15:12 PM »
I finally got around to replacing my old Port-lights this past week. I replaced the old ones with Stainless Steel opening ports by Newfound Metals. They are beautiful but a little work to install. Richard at Newfound Metals was great in answering all my many questions. The service at NFM is outstanding to say the least. I used a combination of the Newfound Metal You-Tube installation video and parts of the very well written example on Compass Marine. Here are the links:

Cruising / Current Cruising Outpost Pictures
« on: October 03, 2017, 04:26:20 PM »
I was flipping through the current "Cruising Outpost" edition the other night and to my surprise there was a picture of my 323 the Rockstar in the middle section of cruising pictures. There was also a picture of Bill's wife on the Wanderer 323 on their cruise to the Caribbean a couple of years ago. Brought a smile to my face as my wife was at the helm of our 323. Sadly she lost her battle with lung Cancer this last June. Those picture will provide great memories. Fair winds to all.

Got this email today

Owners' feedback on the Pearson 323

We are looking for input from current and former owners of the Pearson 323 for an upcoming boat review. Do you own, or have you owned, a Pearson 323? Perhaps you know someone who owns or has owned one? (If so, please forward this message!)

Please send your comments to Dan Spurr at: danspurr@aol.com by July 19 and be sure to include the year/model of your particular boat.

Specifically, Dan wants to know about:
· sailing characteristics (good and bad)
· build quality (issues and accolades)
· what you like most about the boat
· what you like least about the boat
· specific problems you’ve had with this boat (such as leaky hull/deck joint)
· advice you would give to someone considering buying this boat

Thanks for sharing your experience with "the rest of us.” We’re eager to hear from you!

« on: August 11, 2015, 04:43:09 PM »
Just sailed with the help on my Motor from Catalina Island, CA to Newport Beach, CA last week. There was not a breath of wind almost all they way over. Got to sit on the deck and relax. Not a bad day. Attaching a picture. Hope all are having a great summer. Far winds.

Sails and Canvas / Pearson 323 Custom Burgee
« on: May 27, 2015, 03:34:38 PM »
Anyone interested in a custom Burgee from North Sails that has the Pearson 323 logo done in Embroidery? I have attached sample artwork. I will take delivery and mail them to that wants one. I need to know how many are interested and then they will give me a final price. They are about $25.00 for one sided and $37.50 for two sided. Size I was thinking about is 12x18. It seems to be a good size but am open to suggestions. I can reached at rbrtfeld@aol.com if you have any questions

Deck Mounted Hardware / Anchor Windlass Project
« on: January 13, 2014, 11:42:29 PM »
For anyone that had thought about a windlass for the 323, I saw this picture of a windlass setup on a boat for sale on Yachtworld. This is the same project I have been working on. It was nice to see someone already thought of the deck buildup to make the chain and line to match up with the height of the Gypsy. It needs to be around 5 1/2 inches. I built up my deck 3 1/2 inches and now to finish the job I plan to fit an Anchorlift Dolphin 1000 D1012C almost exactly like the one in the picture. I will send more pictures when I complete mine and will have a better idea of the  time and money involved. I think I want to know, maybe not. Hey it's a Boat.
