Good Afternoon ..
Last year, with some assistance we removed my atomic 4 and had it rebuilt; runs like new again !
I also drained the fuel tank while the A4 was out and replaced with 15 gallons of hi octane fuel. The engine was winterized after haul out but I forgot to add fuel stabilizer as I've done in the past.
My question .. am I safe starting the engine with this "unprotected" fuel or should I drain the tank again.
I just don't want to take any chances
thanks,
Graham (Hull #96)

Bacteria won't grow in gas, so the only concern is water intrusion.
Using a hose, siphon a sample from the very bottom of the tank and examine it in a glass container. Any water or phase separation should be obvious.
If your tank fittings and fill cap seals are all good, you are likely alright. I regularly leave a full tank of gas (to minimize air exchange) over the winter with no stabilizer and have had no problems in 8 seasons. YMMV :)
